ROWMARK'S MASTERS CAMP AT MT HOOD 2007

This marks our 17th year of Master's Camps. The Master's camp is held every year in Mt. Hood, Oregon. We hold it the week prior to the Master's Summer Fun Nationals race so that you have the opportunity to stay after the camp and participate in the race.

When we started our first camp in 1989, our goal was three fold. First, was to provide the best training and learning situation available. The second goal was to provide good public relations for our ski academy, and third, that the camp could be a reliable fundraiser for Rowmark skiers in need of financial aid.

This annual camp is an overwhelmingly rewarding experience for our coaching staff and campers alike. Our participants have an incredible enthusiasm and passion for ski racing. Many skiers come back annually, and consequently, many friendships have been established over the years. If you are an avid skier, and keen to learn, we would be delighted to help you improve your skiing and racing.

The camp dates will be from Sunday, July 15 to Saturday July 21. July 15 and July 21 are travel dates. On snow dates are July 16,17,18,19 and 20. If you choose the additional race package, the dates extend over the July 21-22 weekend. Lodging for our Masters racers is at Mt. Hood Inn, located in Government Camp, Oregon. We have patronized this lodge for many years, and have consistently enjoyed its comfort and hospitality. Daily transportation will be provided to and from the mountain, where we will eat breakfast and lunch buffet-style. Price includes breakfast and lunch daily, lifts, lodging, coaching, and transportation to and from the Portland Airport if you coordinate your flight arrival and hour of departure with the Rowmark office. If you chose to come a day or two prior to the camp starting date you will be offered our room discount rate of $90 plus tax per night. Anna, the hotel manager at Mount Hood Inn, recommended that you make the reservation as early as possible, tel. 503-272-3205. We have blocked rooms starting Sunday, July 15. Since July 15th is the travel date we will have airport pick up that day between 10 AM and 2:00 PM. If you are not able to arrive during this time, you can arrange for a shuttle from the airport to the Mount Hood Inn by calling 1-800-831-7433. Masters can travel home after the camp on Saturday or after the race Sunday or Monday morning.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM A SUMMER TRAINING CAMP?

What we would like to offer you is a ski-training situation that will help you through out the coming winter seasons. Over the years each one of the coaches has developed ski exercises that could be a remedy for each skier in the camp. The most challenging part in ski coaching is to present or invent an exercises that will help each individual problem. By combining exercises with gate training each day it is our goal to find the best solution for you, opposed to have one exercise or one universal solution for all.

Gate training will be offered every day with timed runs available after the first day. For those who prefer free-ski drills, coaching for these will be available for part or all of the camp.

Most of your analytic observational skills of yourself and world elite skiers is enhanced during our video. We also have PowerPoint presentations that offer a large selection of photomontages of the world's best. We think it is an attainable goal to be able to see how the elite skiers differentiate in the personal styles by explaining the very basic explanations.
